High Knob Campground in Southern IL

I just saw that High Knob will be closed Nov 20, 2025-Jan 15, 2026 as ownership changes.  The camp is closed to day riders and all campers except permanent campers will still be able to use their sites.  After Jan 15, 2026, they will take reservations for the 2026 season.  The camp phone number will stay the same.

This is a good development. The previous owner really did a nice job for years, but over time she just tired of dealing with the public. There has been some good trail work in that area. Great riding of many types. Big rocks! Really worth a visit.

We've been there several times .  Never was a fan of the owner, but good location for the trails

I have been there once- a long time ago.  I have a good friend who lives in Golconda IL so when I rode with her, I rode some of the same trails.  It is beautiful!

Have you eaten at Diver Down in downtown Golconda? It is a fav place of ours when we are camping and riding in the Shawnee.

No Bite-I have not eaten there.  When I visited, we cooked at home.
