Heavy-mouthed Moonshine

Today for first time in years, I rode Moonshine, Robert's horse and our IR pudgy girl. I was surprised how heavy-mouthed she felt. I was riding her in the MacGregor bit which has done a lot for my other horses. I hate to put her back on the harsher walking bit. Anyone have suggestions to make a hard-mouth more suptle?
