Hope the clinic is a great success.  That is something that I think about doing with Clyde if/when he recovers.  There haven't been obstacles up at the barn where Strider is and Clyde was, just jumps.  When I factor in that the sheep are still there, there are no trails, I can't get dressage help, the hoof care is barely adequate, and driving time round trip is 4 hours or more depending on traffic, I am going to keep him at the very nice barn 3.5 miles from my home where Strider used to live.  Neither place is perfect, but the barn near my home has 3 dressage trainers, fabulous footing and is directly across the street from thousands of acres of trails - Diablo Foothills, which connects to Shell Ridge and Mt Diablo State Park.

The clinic went well.
Clinician Joanne Coy was her usual fun and informative self. I always learn something new from her. The facility(Pine Lake Stables in Plainwell,MI in SW MI) was beautiful and very reasonable to rent. The owner is very easy to work with too. Storms blew through in the morning leading up to the clinic making us worried that we might need to postpone it, but everyone got there safely and the bad weather subsided in time for the clinic to start.
Five riders attended, bringing two MFTs, a RMHx a Tennuvian and a Spotted Saddle Horse/Percheron. Joanne started everyone out with Parelli games groundwork, then we had a Q&A lunch. Joanne explained Western Dressage and the beginning tests when showing, told us many stories with important messages and answered everyone's questions. There were three auditors. We all learned more about gaiting, tack to encourage proper gaiting and homework to do at home with our horses. Joanne asked each of us what we learned at the clinic and had each of us comment what improvements we had seen in each of the riders.
I increased my circle of friends by spending time with the auditors talking about our favorite topic-horses!
It was a very worthwhile clinic!
