After putting it off for several years, I finally had Debra make a stop here to fit Lacey for a saddle. I knew what model I wanted - a Sinclair like Kysa has for Savanna. I've known for a while that my Tucker Equitation saddle, which I absolutely love, was not an ideal fit for either Lacey or Halle. I also figured any saddle I got to fit those 2 mares would also fit Babe and that was confirmed by Debra. Of course, it would always be my second choice saddle because, like I said, I LOVE my Tucker saddle.
I got it last fall, used it a few times on Lacey and once or twice on Babe before winter kicked in. I was happy with it, the horses were happy with it so I knew I'd made a good choice. It didn't feel like my Tucker from my (literal) end, but it would work.
Now to this year. I'd been having increasing pain with groin / inner thigh issues, to the point I was having difficulty even getting a leg over a horse. Muscles and ligaments so tight, sometimes I could feel the pull and pain all the way to my shin and ankle - right leg mainly. Because of this, I was hesitant to even try riding in the Crest Ridge. I figured the difference in the seat and twist would make this even worse.
But I wanted Lacey to get more saddle time, so I pulled out the Crest Ridge and was pleasantly surprised to discover it was MORE comfortable for me than the Tucker. It sets me a bit more on my seat and less on my inner thighs. It has been my go-to saddle all this riding season, in fact I haven't used my Tucker since Spring. The hip/thigh issue is still there, but much better than it was earlier this year. I can't say the saddles have anything to do with it, but it's been good to ride more comfortably. I even took Lacey horse camping a few weeks ago and rode her about 30 miles over 3 days.
So here is Lacey, modeling her all-leather Sinclair, XW tree, 16" seat, endurance rigging.
