We had a new foal born Sunday, May 7 around 1:30 am.  This was my mares second foal and she is doing great with him.  Mare and sire are Rocky Mountains and the colt is a red dun. 

He came out looking like he was already weeks old; very filled out and quite tall.  Vet loved him and he was good for her.  Already curious and trying to nose in moms grain bucket and her hay.

Yes, he is a cutie.  Although I have to say I Ike your horses more for body build than color.  You breed for good conformation.

Thanks Kysa.  Yes I love his conformation.  He is such a looker already-he was up on all his pasterns right off and his build looks exactly like we like.  His sire is Blue Knight, our stallion, so I know that he will have wonderful temperament to go with the rest.  He is such an active colt already.  Trying to nose around in moms grain, her hay, and the water trough.  Very curious personality; of course, the rockies are known for that! 

I was really surprised with his coloring.  I believe her lineage throws a lot of duns.  Wasn't sure what she would have with Blue Knight this year, but I am am beyond thrilled with him.  Definitely will breed that way again.

Mom is a silver grulla, that is where the dun comes in.  Sire is our stallion, Blue Knight, a black rocky with red gene also. 

He is such a sweetie already.

His name is Knight's Red Flame.  He is so sweet already.

Another beauty, Kim! I also appreciate that you're breeding a stallion with a red gene. IMO people are missing the boat when they breed out the beautiful red based colors.
