Prayers for Moonshine
« on: April 23, 2019, 07:30:35 am »

She was doing good, lost some weight before all the rains and lush pasture hit. Grazing muzzle on order but not here on time. I believe she has foundered. I am sick! Prayers please. We must wait on farrier this morning on other two . Trying to get vet appointment but nothing confirmed yet.

Just seeing this, you are probably back by now.   Hoping and praying Moonshine is ok.

Sorry for delay. Caught early. X-rays showed no rotation or damage. He said some laminate damage but should eventually trim out. Special shoes on front for 18 weeks. Not sure why since no permanent damage. $140 a farrier visit each time, 3 total over that 18 week period.

We have to keep her on dry lot he says all year except when summer heat burns up grass. We really have no such thing here. We just had the last of our goat bucks neutered so going to try to get goats.to overgraze what used to be the buck yard and then keep her in there. He was against the grazing muzzle which I really don't understand either.

We were planning a four-day getaway. So now we will have to board her with the vet those.days as obviously can't leave her with no one to tend her then. What a deal! Had to feed.Fargo 3x a day to get enough meat back on his bones. Now the Air Fern is trying us down.

She is losing weight but now high-strung and nervous, I suppose because she feels like she is being starved. It took us a long time to get this horse to trust us and get her to let us catch her easily. Now she runs from us for her short turn-out because she doesn't want to go back to stall.  Can't find square bales anywhere. To much rain here. No one balling.

You might investigate putting her on Heiro. It would give you a margin of error and allow her to graze a little.

I found that the medical cannabis that Claudia sells works MUCH better for Strider. He is able to be out on a short grass pasture all day and in at night.

Thank, Miss Tux. I will try anything.

She is on Heiro. She may have had her "epjsode" because we had her off Heiro for a few days because we got so busy. Our ery very bad. But pasture is so rich due to all the unseasonal rain, she was still enormous even on the Heiro at this point.

My vet said no to the Heiro. I am giving it to her anyway because I believe it kept all this at bay for a long time and believe in the merits of the product. I am corresponding with the vet who makes Heiro about her treatment. I am trying to incorporate his recommendations. My vet is as far away from natural treatments as you can get. The Heiro vet says he will work with your vet. I think it made my vet mad and dig his heels in.
