Weird heels/frog?
« on: November 26, 2018, 07:13:08 pm »

Does the frog of my horses hoof look.... too far back? I know the measure tape is in the way in some of the photos, but his heels look off to me? Trying to measure for boots but I'm feeling like I can't?

https://imgur.com/a/M2FNnDN photos tonight, he was just trimmed

Here's some photos from earlier in Oct:

The fotos are dark on my IPad and the tape is in the way.

I read a long time ago that a healthy frog should cover no more or less than 2/3'rds of the hoof (back to front).

I can't remember where I read that because I can't find it again.  It MIGHT have been on Pete Ramey's web site or maybe even on one of his DVD's I borrowed from someone.

This is how to measure, regardless the brand.

Right, I'm measuring for Easy Boots and have followed that but the buttress line looks like it does not line up with the end of the frog, thus my confusion and concern.
