Depends on the cross.  There is NO STB registry for part breds.  If it Is an Arab/STB cross it can go 1/2 arab.
Hope this helps.

Ive been in conversation with a girl who says 1/2 stb can be reg 1/2 standardbred , and can also be raced .
I know an Arab stb can be registered 1/2 Arab. But she says 1/2 stb.

She is totally wrong on that one.  NO clue where her information is coming from.  You can go to ustrotting.com and get info and phone numbers.
Good luck with this one.

She’s says and showed picture of a 1/2 stb , 1/2 paint and said it was eligible to race. Do they tattoo before they race?

they no longer tattoo.  when owners decide if they are going to try to race (usually around 8 to 12 months )they set up appointments with folks who freeze brand either on the neck or belly.  Tattooing has not been done in this country for at least 18 years as Ace is 18 and carries a freeze brand.

There are standardbreds that are pinto and even greys.  They come in many colors.  Mostly bay but other colors.  there is a breeder in Australia who breeds pinto stbs.
How old is this horse??

If this horse has pinto coloring, it can be registered as a Pinto....but that is a color registers, not a breed registry.  Could also be registered spotted saddle horse, if it is gaited.
This horse could be registered Racking Horse, and raced in racking races.

But the US Trotting Association will NOT accept it as registered horse, and it cannot race in harness races in the USA unless BOTH parents were registered as Standardbreds.

Thank You Kysa!!!  I hope this clears up the issue.  I really have no information on the other suggestions that Kysa posted, but I do know my STBs/  lol

This is a young horse maybe a year? It is already freeze branded . I meant freeze brand instead of tattoo. I have been under impression they are not freeze B until after t goes into training.
So who is right , the Aussie woman that breeds pinto Stb or Kysa ?  I have bred mares to stb and they never mentioned a 1/2 registry.

A 1/2 STB can't be raced.  Can't be registered unless with a different registry.  US Trotting will not accept unless both parents are registered.

Standies do come in different coat patterns, but they are rare.  Freeze branding is the preferred method, and they don't have to be in training to get it.  There are still exceptions where they will tattoo but you have to request the exception through US Trotting ASsoc (I think only one farm still does it).  Typically the breeder will have it done either before going to training or going to an auction, usually between 6 months to 18 months of age.  I've become involved with a Standardbred breeder, and have met several Hall of Fame trainers and drivers (as well as attending the Hambletonian this year!) and have become much more educated than before :D
