Need a saddle made
« on: August 18, 2017, 08:15:27 am »

I am looking for someone who would make me a saddle using a tree I provided.  Ed Steele said he could make a tree exactly like the tree he had made for the saddle that is working for my horse.  The saddle is to heavy and slightly to long.  Any ideas who would do this?  I would want a lightweight or cordura saddle.

You've probably already asked, but why couldn't Steele Custom Saddles make you such a saddle? They have several models of saddles in their line, but they are a custom saddle maker.

No Bite, back from weed eating I see?  ha ha  Giving very good advice - the weed eating time must have been a good thing.  Just kidding!

I am with No Bite completely.  I would have Steele make you a saddle with the tree you have which fits.

Any way he can pare down your current saddle, and make it lighter weight?  If he made that saddle and it works and you like it, get him to make another one, or remake the one you have.  Safer that way, then it will still fit instead of not fitting.  Somebody else may not do a good job.

O

Let's get this party started.

BTW, they offer lighter weight trees made from cedar. Still with a lifetime warranty. In fact, they are making a saddle for me right now with such a tree.

Watch the video of the Aussie West on his home page , that is the saddle he made for
me. Will show you the quality of his work. Very reasonable prices as well.

Thanks!  I want a cordura. But probably won't be able to find someone to make it.  Ed didn't mention him making a saddle but did say Dakota saddlery will make one.  I just don't see a light weight saddle on their site.i will contact Kevin and see what they have.

A woman had Steele try and make her a saddle. She finally gave up on it.

I do not think I would make a tree out of cedar and warranty it. Cedar, when it ages snaps easily. I personally would not do one.
