Claudia, I was born and raised partly, in Evansville, In. My Aunt and Uncle used to take me to the harness races in Kentucky. I can't remember the name of the race track, though.

Hey Foxtrotter,
The FULL name is The State of Rhode Island and the Providence Plantations.

No clue how it got the first part of the name but in the 1600s farms were called Plantations and the southern and western part if this state was all forts and Farms.  We even have a Castle here on the western part of the bay.
Newport is on an island in the East Bay and that was always a big shipping port.  Lots of history here from the 1600s on.

Southwest PA

I actually did a trail ride today!  I have not ridden for quite a few weeks.  It was 47 degrees today, and the snow and ice were melting.

North Central PA.  Secretary for the Twin Tier Trail Riders of NY and PA.   I see a few other PA riders here. And we ride in NY a lot also. You should join our club.  We are not anything fancy, just put a schedule together for rides so we can plan to get together and ride.  Mostly state forest and game lands such as Loyalsock State Forest, Elk County State Forest, Tioga State Forest, Sugar Hill in NY, Brookfield in NY.   Lots of fun rides.

Kate, I did not know that!

I am from South Dakota and almost the least population density of people.  And we like it that way!  I have no idea on the horse population, but it is a lot.  Most are stock horses, though.
