Kysa, that is so cool. I'm envious!  Assuming this will give you a nice dry area when you are covered with snow. Will the snow slide off of it???  Send us a picture when you are snow covered and able to enjoy your arena!

Well, that day w led not be today.  60 miles south of me got a foot of heavy wet snow.  I saw a few flakes in the air yesterday, that was it.  It is now 20 with a wind chill  of 12.  Why did I just do chores in my jeans.  No more.  I dug out the insulated bibs.
The little girls are just now recovered from chicken pox, and tomorrow is a long day at church.  But I will post photos of the next time we use it.  My daughter is flying in from NYC, and she is hoping for a little riding.  She often comes for winter holidays, and then it is too cold for riding.  But we shall see.  I think as long as we dress warm, it should be nice in there.  NO WIND!

I should take photos of the stalls and tack storage....still working on those, and it will be next summer before those are truly complete.  But I have found a new unantipated problem.  Not that big a problem, but I do plan to put the horses in there in pairs, with some hay nets to get used to it.
When the snow slides off the canvas cover, it sounds like a giant zipper then a huge crash!  I definitely want both ponies to get used to that without little riders!
We are close to the shortest day of they year....then he number of daylight hours will get longer.  I am hoping it will be warm enough for a little riding over Christmas vacation.

Beautiful.
It's like spring MUD season here and temps are supposed to stay up in the high 50s and low 60s with no end in sight.  The paddocks are just a mess.  Muck boots are the footwear of the day.

And here is the main reason for the indoor....ponies and grand kids, or in the case a couple of grand nieces.  This was full dark with my lights on.

Shots like those make it all worthwhile for sure.

Looks like you had a great party going on there

More good use of my arena.  We borrowed a mini from a friend who has a pony rescue.  Four months ago this pony could hardly walk her feet were so bad.  Today she was a hit with little girls.

And finally, Rita the blind pony.  She was a family pony then went blind in one eye.  The owners panicked and Rita ended up at Val's pony rescue.  She is getting used to be blind on one side, and now it is time for little riders again.  Melody is a very balanced little rider.  We put her on Rita, and lead her around.  In this photo, we are trying to keep all the adults on Rita's sighted side.  She did spook a couple times, not bad, and Melody rode it out well.  Rita is coming along.  Hoping Melody can ride her alone soon, and then the other little girls.  At that point, Rita will be ready for a new home.

You do deserve this.  And the memories you are able to provide to others is fantastic!  What did you do regarding the drainage around the arena?
