Tow Behind Broadcast Spreader?
« on: May 27, 2014, 06:41:23 am »

Looking to get one to tow with the ATV to lime the paddock & put down seed elsewhere.  Looked at Tractor Supply.  Reviews basically say they're all junk.  None of the ones sold through Sears are rated or reviewed.

Anyone have one they love?  Or at least like?

What kind of lime will you be using? I use bagged dolomitic lime that has a very fine, small particle size, roughly the texture of Wondra. I use this a drop spreader from Northern Tool. http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_41886_41886 It holds 200 lbs of lime just fine.

Given what you have said about rocks and stumps, I think you are right.  Two less wheels bumping over the uneven ground.

I never have seen one of those.   We have the little tow behind like that and a pto driven one for the tractor.   I like the one that you posted compared to the tow behind.   The only drawback I could see for me would be that I am short and dumping into it mounted I may have to have a step to stand on,.   This really looks good.

The ATV hitch-mounted spreader arrived a couple days ago.  I'm sure John will get to mounting it in the next few days (or so).  Once I get a chance to use it,  I'll post back if we like it or not.
